Anise Fork Cookies

ingredients

makes 28
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup fine sugar
1 heaped teaspoon anise seed
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 1/4 cups self-rising flour
a pinch of salt

method

1. Heat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Cream the butter with a wooden spoon.

2. Add the sugar and continue beating until the mixture is light. Mix in the anise seed. Add the egg and mix well. Add the flour gradually with the salt and stir in well.

3. Shape the dough into small balls. Place them on a non-stick or lined baking sheet, leaving space between them.

4. Using a fork dipped in water, flatten out each ball.

5. Bake for 15 minutes.

Cooking time: 30 minutes
