1/4 pint beef stock
1 3/4 cups fresh brown breadcrumbs
1 pound lean minced beef
3/8 cup onion, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 cup dried milk powder
1 egg, well beaten
2 teaspoons tomato puree
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
method
1. Mix all the ingredients and shape the mixture into a loaf in the centre of a large piece of foil.
2. Thoroughly seal the edges of the foil over the loaf.
3. Put the parcel in a tin half filled with water and cook in a moderately hot oven (200°C, 400°F) for 1 to 1 1/4 hours.
4. Open the foil and drain off any liquid, then leave to cool in the foil.
5. Serve with salad ingredients.
