This colourful drink has a sharp but sweet taste. It is excellent served as a winter warmer or after a meal, but it also makes a good summer drink served with crushed ice.
ingredients
makes 3 cups
2 cups cranberries
2 Clementines
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cinnamon stick
2 cups vodka
method
1. crush the cranberries in a food processor and spoon into a large jar. Pare the rind from the Clementines and add.
2. Squeeze the juice from the Clementines and add to the cranberries and pared rind in the jar. Add the sugar, cinnamon stick and vodka to the jar and seal with the lid or a double thickness of plastic, and tie down securely. Shake the jar well to combine all the ingredients.
3. Store the jar in a cool place for 1 month, shaking the jar daily for 2 weeks, then occasionally.
4. When the drink has matured, sterilize some small pretty bottles and, using a funnel with a filter paper inside, strain the liquid into the bottles and cork immediately.
5. Label the bottles clearly and tie a gift tag around the neck.
Sterilize the storage containers you are using with a campden tablet dissolved in boiling water.
