Whole eggs decorate the top of this supper dish so try and use a flameproof dish. The supper can then go from cooker to table without disturbing or breaking the eggs. If using a skillet then carry pan to table using a heatproof mat covered by a tea towel.

3 medium onions
3 sharp eating apples or 1 cooking apple
4 bacon rashers
3/8 cup butter
salt and pepper
4 medium eggs
method
1. Slice onions and unpeeled apples.
2. Cut up bacon.
3. Heat butter in a large skillet, and add onion, apple, bacon and seasoning.
4. Cook until onions are tender.
5. Make four hollows in mixture and break eggs in. Cover and leave to cook slowly for a further 3 - 5 minutes or until eggs are set.
