French bread makes a great pizza base. For a really speedy recipe, use ready-prepared pizza topping instead of the tomato sauce and cook the pizzas under a hot grill for a few minutes to melt the cheese, instead of baking them in the oven.

2 small baguettes
1 1/4 cups tomato sauce
3 ounce lean sliced cooked bam
4 canned pineapple rings, drained and chopped
1/2 small green pepper, seeded and cut into thin strips
1/2 cup mature Cheddar cheese
salt and black pepper
method
1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Cut the baguettes in half lengthways and toast the cut sides until crisp and golden.
2. Spread the tomato sauce over the toasted baguettes.
3. Cut the ham into strips and lay on the baguettes with the pineapple and green pepper. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
4. Grate the cheese and sprinkle on top. Bake for 15-20 minutes until crisp and golden.
