method
1. Melt the butter with the oil in a saucepan. Add the turnips and cook for 5 minutes or until they are golden brown.
2. Sprinkle over the sugar and cook for a further 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
3. Add the stock and bring to the boil.
4. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes or until the turnips are tender but still firm and most of the stock has evaporated.
