Spaghetti Supper Dish

ingredients

serves 6
1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
2 medium eggs
1 pound pork sausages or sausagemeat
1 medium onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, crushed or finely chopped (optional)
salt and pepper
1 can (15 3/4 oz) spaghetti with tomato and cheese sauce
5/8 cup cheese, grated

method

1. Preheat oven to moderately hot, 200°C (400°F).

2. Mix breadcrumbs soaked in half a beaten egg with sausages or sausagemeat, onion, garlic and seasoning.

3. Line a greased, 8-inch flan ring with the mixture. Brush with a little beaten egg and cook in centre of oven for 20 minutes.

4. Lower oven setting to moderate, 180°C (350°F).

5. Turn spaghetti into a pan and heat gently. Strain off the sauce and mix it with remaining beaten egg

6. Add spaghetti to sauce and pour into the sausagemeat case. Cook for a further 20 minutes in centre of oven.

7. Sprinkle top with cheese and broill till golden brown.
